Jakia Howard (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) led the Bears again with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Red Dragons started strong and doubled up Potsdam 12-6 in the first quarter. Howard provided four of the points for the Bears and junior forward
Jenna Cotter (Johnson City, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) had the other bucket.
The second quarter was very evenly played over the first six minutes, but Potsdam wasn't able to pick up any ground as Cortland finished with a 23-15 advantage and took a 35-21 lead into the break. Howard added six more points to her total, while junior guard Zavia Jamie (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) had five, including a three, and junior guard
Xy'El Bradford (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) scored four.
Cortland pulled away in the third, opening the quarter on a 10-4 run and outscoring the Bears 26-14 in the 10 minutes. Bradford scored six more and junior guard
Mikayla Shipley (North Chili, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) had five. Howard scored four and junior guard
Carley Hill (Essex, Vt./Rice Memorial) hit a three. The Red Dragons led 63-37 after 30 minutes.
Cortland started the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run and continued to outpace Potsdam. Hill scored five points for the Bears in the final 10 minutes.
Bradford closed her weekend with nine points, three boards and two steals. Hill finished with eight points and Jaime scored seven.
Logan Streety paced the Red Dragons with 21 points and five rebounds. Lily Woodis scored 13 points and totaled four steals. Brooke Tillotson contributed 12 points, four assists and three rebounds. Brianna Cinque also reached double digits with 10 points.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, when they host SUNY Canton at 5:30 p.m.
