BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (6-13, 4-9 SUNYAC) battled tough, but fell to SUNY Brockport (16-4, 11-2 SUNYAC) Friday evening. Senior forward
Brandon Segar Jr. (Jamaica, N.Y./Richmond Hill) registered his ninth double-double of the season with 12-points and 18 rebounds.

Ahamadou Sillah (Bronx, N.Y./Kipp NYC College Prep) scored in the first minute of the opening half to tie the Golden Eagles early. Potsdam managed to keep the score tight for the next six minutes until sophomore forward
Parker Kelly (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) gave the Bears their first lead of the game 10-9 off an assist from sophomore guard
MeSean Johnson (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) at the 13:43 mark. The Bears then routed an 11-2 run on Brockport in the following two minutes to give themselves a 21-11 lead with 9:35 remaining. Kelly scored five points during the run. Brockport slowed the Bears' momentum when Golden Eagles forward David Grady slammed home the fastbreak jam to trim the Bears lead to six. On the next possession, junior guard
Isaac Oduro Jr. (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King) scored a two-point jumper followed by sophomore guard
Colton Huestis (Ticonderoga, N.Y./Ticonderoga) nailing a three-pointer to further extend the Potsdam lead 26-16 at the 8:01 mark. Brockport then went on a 15-2 run of their own to take a 31-28 lead with a minute and a half to go in the first half. The Golden Eagles took the 34-30 advantage into the break.
The Bears came roaring out of halftime and scored the first four points of the second half to tie Brockport 34-34. The Golden Eagles countered with a 7-0 run to put themselves back on top of Potsdam 41-36 at the 17:17 mark. Both teams traded baskets until sophomore forward
Jaylin Williamson (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville) and Kelly scored back-to-back layups to cut the deficit to four points with 12:22 remaining. Down six with eight minutes to go, the Bears netted seven points in 60 seconds to trail the Golden Eagles 56-54 with seven minutes remaining. Two minutes later, Segar bullied his way down low for two consecutive buckets to retake the lead 58-56 over Brockport at the 3:37 mark. The Bears efforts came short however as the Golden Eagles sank nine free-throws in the remaining three minutes of the contest to take the win at home 67-58.
Sillah scored 13 points to lead the Bears while Kelly chipped in nine to round out the scoring for Potsdam.
Jahidi Wallace tallied 16 points for the Golden Eagles. Mekhi Beckett registered 13 points.
The Bears take on SUNY Geneseo tomorrow at 4 p.m. to close out their Western New York road trip.
