POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (15-14, 4-3 NECC) fell to NECC opponent Nichols College (20-6, 7-0 NECC) in a three-set match at Maxcy Field House on Sunday afternoon. Graduate student setter
Cooper Colesante (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) paced Potsdam today, tallying 25 assists in the match.
The Bears were edged the first set 28-26. Potsdam tried to regroup but failed in sets two and three with scores of 25-16 and 25-22. Graduate student outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) led the Bears offensively during the contest, recording a game high 16 kills. Senior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y/Cheektowaga) recorded four kills and seven digs. Freshman outside hitter
Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) was also strong for the Bears, recording eight digs and three kills. Junior middle hitter
Jason Hendler (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) had four blocks for Potsdam.
Nichols graduate student Luis Martinez (Bayamon, P.R./Academia Santa Teresita), led the Bison on offense, recording 15 kills. Graduate student utility player Carlos Mercado (Barranquitas, P.R./Academia Santa Teresita) had the game-high of four aces. Sophomore outside hitter Nick Martin (Bew Boston, N.H./Goffstown) recorded 27 assists for the Bison. Senior libero Nicholas Basco (Albany, N.Y./Shaker) recorded 14 digs in the contest.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday for the regular season finale when they host SUNY Poly at 4:30 p.m. to decide their postseason seeding.
