POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (7-8, 1-6 SUNYAC) fell to Oswego State (7-5, 5-2 SUNYAC) on Senior Day. Senior captain
Peyton Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) paced the Bears with four goals and one assist for a total of five points. Junior attackman
Cobie Cree (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) scored two goals with an assist and sophomore midfielder
Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) rounded out Potsdam's leaders with two goals and two assists of his own.
The Lakers opened the game on a 4-0 run to give Oswego an early advantage over the Bears.
Peyton Walsh put Potsdam on the board with 1:38 remaining off an assist from sophomore midfielder

Rose hit the mark three minutes into the second quarter to cut the Oswego lead to 4-2. The Lakers answered with back-to-back goals from sophomore attackman Corey O'Connor (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) to extend their lead. Sophomore attackman
Owen Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) then found Rose for his second goal of the game at the 2:30 mark. The Lakers struck once more with 57 seconds remaining to take a 7-3 lead into the break.
A total of eight goals were scored in the third quarter of play. The Bears started the second half with a two-man advantage as freshman midfielder
Tyler Gould (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Schroeder) threw a lightning strike to the back of the net with only twenty seconds expiring off the clock. Oswego netted a goal 40 seconds later, but Potsdam responded with two more goals. Hughes located Cree and then Hughes scored a man-up goal of his own off a helper from senior captain
Ayden LaFave (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River) to trim the Lakers lead 8-6. Oswego continued to trade goals with Potsdam as they notched two more with 5:55 to go. The Bears managed to hold off the Lakers for the remaining 3:21 as
Peyton Walsh scored his second goal of the game from Hughes while senior attackman
Noah Strader (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) passed it off to freshman defenseman
Ryan Wassmer (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) for his first collegiate goal. The Bears trailed the Lakers 10-8 after 45 minutes.
Potsdam kept the momentum rolling in the final quarter as Rose set up
Peyton Walsh's third goal two minutes in. Another two minutes ticked off the clock until Oswego scored their 11th goal to maintain their two-goal lead. Cree then set up Strader for a man-down goal. One minute later, Oswego connected on another goal to put them back up by two. The Bears netted two goals in the following four minutes from
Peyton Walsh and Cree to tie the game up at 12 goals apiece. Despite a few more attempts to score, the Lakers continued to hold them off until senior attackman Jack Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) notched the game-winning goal with 2:34 remaining to give Oswego the 13-12 victory.

Prior to the game, Potsdam honored their eight seniors.
Peyton Walsh played in 43 games, scoring 92 goals, and recording 32 assists for 124 points. He ends his career ranked 11th in program history in scoring and tied eighth in goals for the Bears. Strader played in 31 games, scoring 19 goals, and recording four assists for 23 points. Senior captain
Bryce Tyler (Camden, Maine/Camden Hills) played in 40 games, scoring four goals, and recording three assists for a total of seven points. Tyler also snatched 28 ground balls and caused nine turnovers. Senior captain
Ryan Spaman (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) played in 44 games, scoring eight goals, and tallying 13 assists for 21 points while grabbing 22 ground balls.
