GENESEO, N.Y.—SUNY Geneseo (5-8, 1-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (4-8, 0-1) 3-0 on Friday night in the teams' SUNYAC opener. Sophomore setter
Sophia Layer (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) led the Bears with 11 assists, 11 digs and three kills.
The Knights took the three straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-6 and 25-18. Junior opposite
Alyssa Adams (Jamestown, N.Y./Randolph) had six kills, an ace and six digs. Senior opposite
Kendall Jones (Parker, Colo./Elizabeth) had three kills and an ace. Freshman outside hitter
Emily Prest (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) added five digs.
Julia Wallace paced the Knights with nine kills. Madison Gamberg had seven kills and four blocks. Linda Rossi also contributed seven kills to go with seven digs and three blocks. Madison Popielski registered a match-high four aces along with five digs. Carolyn Mack had 15 assists and Cecelia Dignan recorded 23 digs.
The Bears complete their conference weekend with a 1 p.m. match at SUNY Brockport tomorrow.
