Megan Teachout (Auburn, N.Y/Oswego State) scored twice on Senior Day, including the game-winner 3:12 into overtime. Fellow graduate student and assistant captain
Alex Quinn (Potsdam, N.Y./St. Lawrence Steel) had the other goal and two assists. Senior goalie
Ellie Zurfluh (Arvada, Colo./Team Colorado) made 30 saves for her 15th career win. She ranks third on the program's NCAA-era wins list.
Quinn got the Potsdam on the board first at 18:15 of the opening period. Senior forward
Catherine Proulx (Rockland, Ontario/Post University) picked up the assist. The Mustangs outshot the Bears 13-8 in the opening period, but trailed 1-0 at the intermission.
The teams combined for nine penalties and two power-play goals in the second period. At 6:17, Teachout fire a shot off of a Morrisville player and into the net to make it 2-0. Proulx and Quinn had the assists. The Mustangs answered on the man advantage just 1:21 later with a goal from junior forward Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ontario/Brock Jr. Badgers). After the dust settled from the penalty-fest, Potsdam held a 2-1 lead.
Morrisville generated good pressure in the third period. At the 14:29 mark, the Bears were called for an elbowing penalty. Just over a minute later, at 15:58 sophomore forward Zoe Leas (North Vancouver, British Columbia/Oswego State) knocked home feed at the left side of the crease to tie the score. The goal forced overtime and pushed the Mustangs past SUNY Canton into the playoffs.
In overtime, Morrisville tested Zurfluh early, but she handled three attempts. At 3:12, Teachout buried her 14th goal of the season to give the Bears the win. Quinn had the last assist of her career on the play.
