AURORA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (10-9) defeated Geneva College (12-10) 3-1 and Wells College (4-14) 3-0 on Saturday in a tri-match. Sophomore outside hitter
Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) led the Bears with 27 kills and 18 digs in the two matches. The seven-match winning streak matches the program record set in 2022.
In the opener, the Golden Tornadoes took set one 27-25 before Potsdam bounced back to take the match 25-23, 25-20 and 25-22. Junior middle hitter
Matt Kilinski (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) matched a career-high with 16 kills to go with two blocks and an ace. Tenhagen had 15 kills and 12 digs. Senior middle hitter
Sean Murray (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) also had a personal best 10 kills along with two blocks. Senior captain
Michael Anderson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had 27 assists and freshman setter
Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) posted 22 assists. Senior opposite
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) and senior libero
Tom Shemik (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) each had 10 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Calum Anderson (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) contributed a career-high four blocks.
Peter Samuelsen led Geneva with 11 kills. Carter Milroy had 10 kills,12 digs and five blocks. Evan Puhl registered 10 kills and three blocks. Decker Milroy totaled a contest-best 40 assists and Owen Kelley led the Golden Tornadoes with 13 digs.
Against the host Express, the Bears took 25-16, 25-15 and 25-17 decisions. Tenhagen led the way with 12 kills, six digs and two aces. Kilinski had another eight kills, four blocks and two aces. Freshman outside hitter
Darius Dorsey-Rhule chipped in four kills and two blocks. Anderson added another 20 assists. Rogers had four digs and three assists and Lombardo had six more assists.
Billy McCrae led Wells with five kills. Harrison Keena had four kills and seven digs. Connor Garvey totaled three kills and four digs. Qulik Evans rounded out the leaders with nine digs.
The Bears are now off until March 15 when they travel to Endicott College for a 3 p.m. NEVC contest.
