GENESEO, N.Y.—SUNY Geneseo (7-5, 2-1 SUNYAC) used a big fourth quarter to pull away from the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (6-4, 1-2) for an 18-8 win on Friday afternoon. Junior attack
Owen Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) scored a career-high six goals for the Bears and junior midfielder
Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) added the other two.
The Knights scored the only four goals of the first quarter. William McCumiskey opened the scoring at 11:56. Just over six minutes later he added his second. Brady Sullivan scored at 3:43 and Riley Henselder made it a 4-0 contest with 39 seconds on the clock.
Owen Walsh got the Bears on the board just 36 seconds into the second quarter. Freshman midfielder
Morgan Fox (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) assisted on the goal. However, Geneseo answered with goals from Cole Bollin and Henselder at 13:02 and 9:33, respectively. Henselder's marker came with the Knights a man up. Walsh notched his second at 6:29, but Jimmy Atkinson scored with two seconds left to give Geneseo a 7-2 advantage at the break.
Owen Walsh sandwiched two more goals around Bollin's second to start the third quarter and the Bears trailed 8-4 at 11:47. Rose scored the next two and Potsdam was within 8-6 at 7:23. Atkinson netted his third of the contest at 5:40, but
Owen Walsh answered with his fifth three minutes after that. Jack Helrigel got the last goal of the third with 46 seconds left and Geneseo led 10-7 after 45 minutes.
The Knights ended the Bears thoughts of a comeback with four goals in a 4:39 span early in the fourth quarter and were up 14-7 at 9:49. Henselder scored the first two and Maddox Gorney and Atkinson had the others. Geneseo then finished the quarter in the same fashion, a burst of three goals in 47 seconds. McCumiskey, Sullivan and Gorney each scored.
Owen Walsh then buried his sixth of the contest at 2:17 to close the scoring at 18-8.

Saka Thompson (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) made 15 saves in the and allowed 14 goals first 50:11. Junior
Liam O'Neil (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) allowed four goals and stopped one shot in the last 9:49
Andrew Tittmann made 11 saves to earn the win for the Knights.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, April 13, when they host SUNY Cortland at 2 p.m.
