Pioneers blank Bears, 2-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Utica University (2-3) scored a goal in each half to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (1-5) 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • At 38:31, junior forward Amber Piersma (Cassville, N.Y./Mount Markham) picked up a pass from senior midfielder Noella Burlette (Manchester, Conn./Manchester), drove toward the top of the box and fired the ball into the left corner of the net.
  • Sophomore midfielder Natalia Bell (Cortland, N.Y./Groton) scored on a long shot at 69:12 with an assist from freshman midfielder Ayla Flockton (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North).
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Bears sophomore goalie Megan Fry (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) made 11 saves.
