Bears double up Mighty Oaks, 2-1

TULLY, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (4-1-2) defeated the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (1-3-1) 2-1 on Wednesday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore midfielder Luke Tytler (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) opened the scoring in the 13th minute with an assist from senior captain Zach Cunningham (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East).
  • Senior captain Justin Mossey (Amity Harbor, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) netted the eventual game-winner at in the 83rd minute with another helper from Cunningham.
  • Archie Fowler finally got the Might Oaks on the board with just one minute remaining in the contest.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Bears outshot ESF 26-7 and finished with a 6-5 edge in corners.
  • Junior goalkeeper Ian Schwartz (Amsterdam, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth) made four saves for his third career-win.
  • Goalie Sam Tymeson stopped six shots for the Mighty Oaks.
  • Cunningham's two assists were the 13th and 14th of his career, tying him for second place on the program's all-time list.
