Lakers push past Potsdam, 3-1

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (6-4-3, 3-1-2 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (8-4-2, 2-3-1) 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Potsdam appeared to score early in the contest, but the goal was waved off due to an offsides call.
  • Oswego countered immediately at 4:53 as senior midfielder Erika Yancey (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) finished a corner kick from junior forward Kayla Sustad (Willet, N.Y./Cincinnatus).
  • Potsdam was awarded a penalty kick at 21:37. Senior defender Emma Wilson (Nesconset, N.Y./Sachem North) tied the game with a rocket off the hands of Lakers senior goalie Patyn Crane (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield).
  • Yancey put Oswego back in front at 32:06 with another goal off a corner, this time coming from senior midfielder Amber McDermott (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville).
  • At 52:40, Sustad sent a direct kick toward Potsdam's right post and graduate student midfielder Lauren O'Connell (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) knocked it home to make it 3-1.
