POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (0-2) fell to St. Lawrence University (1-0) 69-50 on Saturday evening. Senior forward
DaeLynn Alcock (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River) led the Bears again with 18 points, six rebounds and two steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints outscored the Bears 23-14 in the first quarter. Alcock and freshman forward Kierra Baxter (Liverpool, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) each had five points
- SLU pulled farther ahead with a 20-9 second quarter. Alcock added another six points to her total.
- A 16-9 third quarter gave the Saints a 59-32 advantage through 30 minutes. Alcock had seven points.
- The Bears had a big fourth quarter, outscoring SLU 18-10. Senior guard Paris Jones (Houston, Texas/Dulles) scored seven points in the last 10 minutes. Alcock had five and freshman guard Lucie Scarpine (Angola, N.Y./Lake Shore) chipped in four.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears shot 38.6-percent from the field to SLU's 34.8.
- The Saints outrebounded Potsdam 50-37.
- Baxter scored 13 points and had five boards on the night.
- Jones scored nine points and Scarpine had six points and seven rebounds.
- Junior forward Elizabeth Flynn (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) led the Saints with a double-double of 15 points and 10 boards.
- Junior guards Annie Perry (Wareham, Mass./Brewster) and Norah Niesz (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) each had 12 points for SLU.
