POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (7-6, 3-3 SUNYAC) scored six of the contest's final seven goals to surge past Plattsburgh State (5-8, 1-5) 8-5 on Wednesday evening. The win keeps the Bears tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with one game to go.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior attackman Crayton Cree (Hogansburg, N.Y./Salmon River) opened the scoring with a man-up goal at 12:57 of the first quarter with an assist from senior captain Cobie Cree (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River). Cree then set up senior midfielder Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) with 13 seconds left and it was 2-2 after 15 minutes.
- The Cardinals scored the only goal of the second quarter and the first of the third to build a 4-2 edge. Potsdam's offense took over soon after.
- Cree scored at 8:22 of the third quarter to start a 6-1 close to the contest. Junior attackman Billy Kozloski (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) also scored in the third and it was 4-4 through 45 minutes.
- Potsdam outscored the Cardinals 4-1 in the final 15 minutes. Senior midfielder Owen Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa), Kozloski, Rose and Cree each scored to seal the win.

- Cree finished with two goals and two assists.
- Rose had two goals and an assist.

- Junior faceoff specialist Drew Costello (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) won 13 of his 17 opportunities and claimed a contest best seven ground balls.
- Senior captain Liam O'Neil (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) made a season-high 17 saves for his 13th career win.
- Walsh (106-62-168) and Cree (106-55-161) rank sixth and ninth in program history in scoring, respectively. They are tied for seventh in goals and Walsh is eighth in assists, while Cree is 11th.

The Bears are tied with SUNY New Paltz for fourth place in the SUNYAC. They host the Hawks in the regular season finale this Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner clinches the final playoff spot.
