POTSDAM, N.Y.– Freshman women's volleyball player Ashlee Hagerman (Kirkwood, N.Y./Kirkwood) and sophomore men's soccer player Thomas Wendel (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) have been named SUNY Potsdam Athletes of the Week for the week ending August 30.
 
In her first three matches for the Bears, Hagerman recorded 48 kills, 33 digs, four blocks, and five service aces. The outside hitter made her debut with 19 kills, 15 digs, an ace and a block against Plattsburgh in the Cardinal Classic Opener on Friday afternoon. In game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, she added 15 kills, 11 digs, three aces and two blocks against Russell Sage. Hagerman finished out her first collegiate weekend with another 14 kills, seven digs, an ace and a block against SUNY Delhi.
 
Wendel had an impressive start to the season, scoring both the tying and game-winning goals in a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Mount Saint Mary College in the Bears' season opener. It was his first two-goal performance in college.
