Napoleon strikes twice to lead Bears past Bobcats, 5-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Senior forward Meg Napoleon (Lyons, N.Y./Newark) scored two goals to help the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (5-1-1) to a 5-0 win over Paul Smith's College (3-2) on Friday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Napoleon put the Bears up for good at the 27:56 mark. Senior defender Emma Wilson (Nesconset, N.Y./Sachem North) picked up the assist.
  • Wilson then made it 2-0 with a helper from junior forward Adrianna Orlando (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) at 49:04.
  • Wilson set up Napoleon again at 56:55 to extend the lead to three goals.
  • At 74:35, senior forward Madison Wagner (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) added an unassisted marker.
  • Junior forward Morgan Williams (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) closed the scoring with an assist from sophomore forward Ava Murphy (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) with just 11 seconds remaining.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Potsdam outshot Paul Smith's 31-2.
  • Bears junior goalie Megan Fry (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder), junior Caroline Vines (Irondequoit, N.Y./Irondequoit) and sophomore Kalissa Young (Winthrop, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) split the shutout without facing a shot.
  • Bobcats junior goalie Peyton Hoffman (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) stopped eight shots.
