ONEONTA, N.Y.—SUNY Oneonta (11-6, 9-1 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (1-15, 1-8) 101-80 on Saturday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Red Dragons led 11-4 to start the contest, but the Bears rebounded.
• A 14-4 run gave Potsdam a 31-26 lead at the 7:38 mark. Freshman forward Landon Cox (Dickinson Center, N.Y./Brushton-Moira) hit back-to-back threes in the stretch.
• Oneonta then closed the half with a 20-7 run and led 46-38 at the break.
• A Red Dragon 10-3 run to start the final 20 minutes gave them a commanding 56-41 advantage.
• Oneonta continued to expand its lead and keep the Bears at bay to close out the 101-80 victory.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Both teams were red hot from the floor. The Red Dragons shot 53.5-percent and the Bears hit 50.9-percent.
• Oneonta controlled the glass with a 47-22 rebounding advantage.
• Sophomore guard Timothy Hardy (Portsmouth, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished with a career-high 19 points.
• Sophomore guard Mike Hancock (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
• Freshman center Batualp Ozen (Ankara, Turkey/Furtah Prep) also reached double digits with 10 points
• Cam LaClair led the Red Dragons with a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds. Delano Knox also scored 21 points.
