Mustangs pull away from Bears

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.—SUNY Morrisville (8-12, 7-6 SUNYAC) used a big second half to pull away from the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (1-19, 1-12) for a 92-66 win on Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears used an 8-0 run in the first five minutes to grab an 8-4 lead, with sophomore guard Mike Hancock (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) scoring four of the points.
  • A Mustangs' 14-8 stretch gave them a 29-23 lead at the 6:26 mark.
  • Two free throws from senior Jaylen Singh (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Rockvale) got the Bears within 37-35 at 2:26, but Morrisville scored the final four points of the half and led 41-35 at the break.
  • The Mustangs opened the second half with a 10-1 run for a 51-36 advantage at 16:50.
  • Potsdam had a final 8-0 run with 12:47 left to get within 53-45, but Morrisville pulled away a with a 19-7 burst to take control for good.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Mustangs shot 47.4-percent from the floor and held the Bears to 27.7.
  • Morrisville also outrebounded Potsdam 55-45.
  • Sophomore guard Timothy Hardy (Portsmouth, Va./Ocean Lakes) led the Bears with 15 points and eight rebounds.
  • Singh finished with 14 points, while freshman guard Bobby Kemokai (New Brunswick, N.J./Plattsburgh) scored 13 and Hancock added 10 points and seven boards.
  • Jacob Works led all scorers with 22 points for the Mustangs.
