LEXINGTON, KY.—The SUNY Potsdam men's and women's volleyball teams have earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year. The men's team claims the honor for the first time, while it's the eighth straight season for the women and 10th time overall.
 
The Bears are two of 1,432 collegiate and high school programs to be honored. To be eligible a team needs to maintain a grade-point-average of at least 3.3 for the entire school year.
 
Potsdam's women were 9-18 in 2025. The men went 12-7, 4-3 in the NEVC, their fourth consecutive winning season. They also reached the postseason for the fifth straight year and the semifinals for the third time in the last four seasons. Three Bears men earned all-conference accolades.
