Mike Pitts

Michael Pitts became the SUNY Potsdam Athletic Department's head trainer in September 2017.
 
Pitts comes to Potsdam after serving in the same capacity at Clarkson University. During his time with the Golden Knights, he was responsible for three assistants, 20 sports teams, and the day-to-day duties of a split Division I/III NCAA institution.
 
At Clarkson, Pitts communicated with team physicians and negotiated contracts with local healthcare providers. He wrote policies and procedures pertaining to NCAA drug testing and injury protocol. Pitts also submitted concussion protocols with regards to Division I compliance, coordinated emergency personnel, as well as scheduled and oversaw the daily activities for each of the teams.
 
Pitts earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland in 2000. There he served as a student athletic trainer for women's soccer, wrestling, baseball, and men's ice hockey.
 
Throughout his career, Pitts has worked camps and clinics where he was responsible for treatment and first aid.
 
Pitts earned his Master's Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from St. Lawrence University in 2012. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), EATA, and NYSATA. Pitts also holds NATABOC and AHA CPR AED Certifications.
 
He resides in Potsdam.
