Seeking to gain ground in the SUNYAC standings, the Potsdam volleyball team was turned back at Buffalo State in straight sets 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 on Friday night.

Fortunately, for the Bears, SUNY Geneseo defeated Oneonta three sets to one on Friday night as well.  That result helped Potsdam (11-14 overall, 4-3 SUNYAC) maintain a two-game advantage over both teams for the sixth—and final—playoff seed for the SUNYAC tournament, which is set to begin on Friday, Nov. 8.Â

The Bears now currently hold the same conference record as SUNY Cortland and Plattsburgh State.

The Bengals (19-8 overall, 6-1 SUNYAC) started quickly and never looked back. It got big performances from Samantha Parente (10 kills), Sarah Horvath (11 digs, nine kills) and Kelsey Bashore (30 assists, seven digs).

Buffalo State was able to take advantage with more fluid teamwork (33-18 advantage in assists) and a more effective serving style by earning an 8-0 advantage in service aces.Â
