NEW YORK, N.Y.—Richard Stockton College (10-2) topped the SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (5-7) 3-0 in the first round of the Violet Invitational at New York University on Friday evening.
The Ospreys took three straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-14. Graduate student outside hitter
Annie Smith (Chateauguay, N.Y./Chateauguay) led the Bears attack with five kills and added three digs. Senior outside hitter
Sharon Ofori (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) had three kills and freshman outside hitter
Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) matched her to go along with two solo blocks. Senior outside hitter
Liza Fields (Duanesburg, N.Y./Duanesburg) finished with four kills and seven digs, while freshman setter
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) rounded out the leaders with 11 assists.
Potsdam finishes the tournament with two matches on Saturday. At noon the Bears face the host Violets and then battle Western New England at 2 p.m.
