POTSDAM, N.Y.- Day 1 of SUNYAC Pool Play ended with the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (4-18, 0-7 SUNYAC) falling to SUNY Geneseo (14-14, 3-4 SUNYAC) on Friday night. The Knights took the match in three sets, 25-13, 25-20 and 25-20.
Junior outside hitter
Stephanie Maddox (Anaheim, Calif./Cornelia Connelly) led the Bears attack with seven kills along with eight digs and one ace. Freshman setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) finished with 19 assists with eight digs and junior libero
Maddie Paquin (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) added 18 digs and two aces. Senior
Casey Chase (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) helped Potsdam with six kills and three digs, while senior defender
Allie Romaniello (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) had nine digs with one ace.
Paige Pendleton led the Knights with 13 kills, three aces and three digs, while Danielle Sayler helped the defense with 18 digs. Emily Ast finished with 30 assists, three aces and 10 digs and Lizzy Morton had eight digs and six kills in the win.
On Day 2, the Bears will take on SUNY Fredonia at 10 a.m. and Oswego State at 12:30 p.m. to wrap up conference play.
