POTSDAM, N.Y.- Timely free throw shooting from Oswego State (8-14, 6-9 SUNYAC) leads the Lakers past SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-20, 0-14 SUNYAC) with a 93-75 win Friday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium. Senior captain
Bailey Weigel (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) fell short of a double-double with 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals on the night and fellow captain
Carli Reynolds (Indian Lake, N.Y./Indian Lake) finished with 22 points. Alisha Jacobs had a contest-best 28 points and four boards and Mary Mazzella added 26 points to lead the Lakers

Oswego State jumped on top of the Bears early with a 20-11 run to open the first half. The Lakers led by nine at 9:22 after a made free throw from Jacobs. At 8:51, Reynolds hit from behind the arch to start a 16-11 run for the Bears. Potsdam got Oswego State's lead down to four with less than two minutes to go after another three from Reynolds and a made free throw by sophomore guard
Meghan Driscoll (Troy, N.Y./Troy). The Lakers ended the half by going five-for-six from the foul line to get their lead back to double digits to take into the locker room.

Oswego State held the slight edge in the first 10 minutes of the final half of the contest. The Lakers continued to build their lead that got out to 18 at the 9:49 mark. The Bears offense caught fire and went on a 21-7 run that was led by senior guard
Colleen McNamara (Guelph, Ontario/Our Lady of Lourdes), Reynolds and Weigel. The three seniors combined for all 21 points for the Bears that cut the Lakers lead to four with 4:30 remaining. Oswego State answered by going 12-for-13 from the free throw line and combined to go on a 22-8 run to finish out the game. The Lakers took the 93-75 victory.

McNamara finished with 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds and four steals for the Bears and Driscoll tallied eight points and three boards. Heather Hebert and Rachael Windhausen each tacked on 13 points for the Lakers and Hebert finished with a double-double adding 15 rebounds.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow as Potsdam heads to SUNY Cortland to take on the Red Dragons at 4 p.m.
