BUFFALO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (4-10, 0-1 SUNYAC) fell to host Buffalo State (8-6, 1-0) on the first day of SUNYAC Pool Play on Friday evening.
The Bengals topped the Bears 25-16, 25-21 and 25-20 to open conference play with a win. Sophomore setter
Kelsea Healis (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Cotate) led Potsdam's offense with seven kills. Junior outside hitter
Stephanie Maddox (Anaheim, Calif./Cornelia Connelly) had six kills and sophomore utility player
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) added five. Freshman setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) recorded 22 assists and 11 digs. Junior defensive specialist
Maddie Paquin (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) had 21 digs and junior libero
Sloane Campbell (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) chipped in eight. Buffalo State's Hannah Renaldo had a game-high eight kills and four blocks to go along with 10 digs. Jennifer Cecchettini totaled 24 assists and Rachelle Kelchlin added 10 digs.
The Bears are back at it tomorrow at 10 a.m. as they open the day with the defending SUNYAC Champion New Paltz Hawks. Potsdam then wraps up the weekend with North Country foe Plattsburgh at 12:30 p.m.
