CANTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of Paul Smith's College this evening on Day 1 of the SUNY Canton Invitational.
The Bears cruised to 25-13 and 25-15 victories in the first two sets and then fought off the Bobcats 25-21 in the third to complete the whitewashing. Junior outside hitter

Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) led Potsdam's offense with eight and seven kills, respectively. Junior libero
Sloane Campbell (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) had a game-high seven aces, while Maddox chipped in five and freshman setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had four in her collegiate debut. Rodda also had a contest-best 16 assists and sophomore setter
Kelsea Healis (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Cotate) had six. Junior libero
Maddie Paquin (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) posted a game-high 19 digs and Rodda and Campbell had nine and eight, respectively.
Nicole Armstrong had seven kills for Paul Smith's. Alaina Woods finished with six assists and Bridget Parks totaled 13 digs.
The Bears now prepare for a tripleheader tomorrow. They face the host Kangaroos at 10 a.m., SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh at noon and SUNY Poly at 2 p.m.
