POTSDAM, N.Y.- SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team's (1-16, 1-9 SUNYAC) comeback fell short against SUNY Fredonia (6-11, 5-6 SUNYAC) Friday night with a score of 72-64. Senior guard 
Joe Estramonte (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich Central) led the Bears with 14 points, while his counterpart Blue Devil Ian Helps recorded a double-double in the win with 13 points and 12 boards.
 
At 15:41, the game was tied at 9-9 after the teams exchanged baskets in the opening minutes. Then Fredonia ignited a 14-4 run that was started with a layup from Dante Williams. Potsdam answered with nine straight points with five from freshman forward Nate Wyatt (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) to take the 22-21 lead following a layup from freshman forward 
Tyrone Adeyeye (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker). The Blue Devils picked it up on the offensive end for a 13-5 run to close out the first half and hold the 34-27 lead.
 
The Bears came out of the break with a three from freshman guard 
Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville), then consecutive layups from Adeyeye and freshman forward 
Serigne Kane (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Prep) to tie the game at 34 all. The teams traded baskets through most of the second half. At the 3:21 mark, Fredonia held a four point lead over Potsdam. During remaining minutes, the Blue Devils scored 10 of their last 12 points from the free throw line. Estramonte kept the game within reach while scoring seven of the Bears' last eight points, but time ran out.
 
Potsdam shot 45-percent from the field to Fredonia's 40-percent. The Blue Devils held the slight advantage in rebounds 38-30.
 
Adeyeye finished with 12 points and tied for a team-high six boards with sophomore forward 
Josh Blagrove (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford). Wyatt tacked on 10 points, while Langley added nine. For Fredonia, Kasean Jackson and Williams each finished with 13 points and four boards and Alexander Grace added another 12 points.
 
The Bears will travel to Buffalo State tomorrow to battle the Bengals at 4 p.m.
