FREDONIA, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (13-12, 1-6 SUNYAC) fell to SUNY Fredonia (17-9, 5-2 SUNYAC) in their opening match at the SUNYAC Pool Play Friday night 1-3. The Blue Devils took the first set 12-25 before the Bears took the second set 25-20. Fredonia then took the next two sets, 23-25 and 24-26 to take the win.

Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) led Potsdam's offense with 11 kills followed by fellow junior opposite
Rachel Topf's (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) 10 kills. Freshman outside hitter
Gabrielle Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) added eight kills of her own, while junior outside hitter
Kelsea Healis (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) and sophomore setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) totaled four each. Rodda also totaled 33 assists on the night.

Sloane Campbell (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) topped the defense with 29 digs, while Scott and Topf added 18 and 12, respectively. Senior outside hitter
Whitney Coyle (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) fell short of double digits with nine digs and Healis picked up seven. Â

The Bears will look to bounce back tomorrow when Potsdam takes on SUNY Oswego at 10 a.m. and College at Brockport at 12:30 p.m.
