Ott reaches 100 points as Bears edge Cougars, 3-2

PITTSBURGH, PA.—The SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (9-6-1, 5-3-1 ECAC West) rallied twice to defeat Chatham University (5-10-1, 0-8-1) 3-2 on Friday night. Juniors Jaci Morr (Monroe, Mich./Team Detroit), Anna-Rose Bertin (Marathon, Ontario/Canadian International Hockey Academy) and Brenna Wilson (Kanata, Ontario/Ottawa Senators) each scored for the Bears. Senior forward Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y./Rochester Edge) recorded an assist to become the first NCAA-era Bear to reach 100 points for her career.

Jenny Jones gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at the 13:57 mark of the opening period. The Bears had two power plays in the first, but were unable to take advantage. The score was unchanged after 20 minutes.

At the 4:34 mark of the second period, Morr evened the score on the power play. Ott and sophomore defenseman Rylie Murray (Berkley, Mich./Honeybaked) each assisted on the play. Just 2:22 later, Marissa Janiga put Chatham back in front with an unassisted marker. Again the lead was short lived. Wilson set up Bertin at 9:24 and Potsdam never trailed again. Wilson then scored the eventual game-winner on the power play at 12:55 with an assist from senior captain Amanda Peterson (West Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Flyers). The Bears outshot the Cougars 15-5 in the middle stanza thanks in part to six power plays.

The teams each went 0-for-3 on the man advantage in the third period. Chatham outshot Potsdam 10-7, but couldn't solve Bears freshman goalie Alexa Pfeiffer (Sylvania, Ohio/Little Caesar's) again.

Pfeiffer finished with 21 saves to earn her fifth career victory. Sydney Isbell made 28 stops for the Cougars.

Potsdam was 2-for-11 on the power play and Chatham didn't score in six opportunities.

The teams go at it again tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
