No. 7 SLU overpowers Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y.—No. 7 St. Lawrence University (12-1) overpowered the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (4-7) 20-7 on Tuesday evening. Senior captain Casey Boulio (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) had three goals for the Bears and junior attackman Eric Soderquist (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) had a goal and three assists.
 
The Saints raced out to a 13-0 lead through nearly two quarters and never looked back. Senior midfielder paced SLU with three goals and six points for a game-high six points. Senior attackman Jamie DeNicola (Hamden, Conn./Hamden Hall County Day School) scored five goals. Senior midfielder Jon Fairbanks (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) scored two goals and added an assist, while junior attackman Jordan Down (Sudbury, Mass./Northfield-Mt. Herman) had a goal and two assists. Senior midfielder Conor Brimley (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) and junior attackman Cal Hynson (Rye, N.Y./Rye) each chipped in two goals.
 
Senior attackman Berkley Stone (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) scored twice for Potsdam and freshman Salmon River grad Alan Jacobs (Hogansburg, N.Y./Salmon River) netted his first career goal.
 
Bears senior goalie Jack Bezek (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) made four saves and allowed eight goals in the first quarter. Sophomore Zach Sheridan (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) made three saves and allowed five goals in the second quarter. Sophomore Sean Coe (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) stopped nine shots in the final two quarters.
 
Saints junior goalie Alex Terry (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) didn't face a shot in the opening 21:06. Junior Matty Corbelle (Byfield, Mass./The Governor's Academy) made seven saves and allowed four goals in the next 21:44. Senior Conor Johnson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) gave up three goals without a save in the last 17:10.
 
On Saturday, Potsdam heads to No. 6 Cortland for a 3:30 p.m. battle with the Red Dragons.
