BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball (3-3) team fell to Baldwin Wallace (6-1) 3-1 before defeating Cazenovia College (0-2) 3-0 on the first day of competition at the Golden Eagle Invitational.
The Yellow Jackets took the first two sets by 25-13 and 25-14 scores. Potsdam rallied for a 25-17 win in set 3 before falling 25-12 in the finale. Sophomore outside hitter
Gabby Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) led the Bears with 12 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore middle hitter
Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) posted nine kills and a block. Freshman outside hitter
Emme Price (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) contributed six kills and two blocks. Senior setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) finished with 28 assists and nine digs. Junior libero
Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) had a 18 digs and three assists.
The Bears breezed past the Wildcats in the later match, 25-8, 25-10 and 25-9. Price paced Potsdam with 10 kills and a block. Senior outside hitter
Rachel Pridell (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) added six kills and Mack had five and a block. Scott and sophomore outside hitter
Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) each had four aces. Rodda recorded 24 more assists, 10 digs and three aces. Magallon totaled 21 digs and Scott added 10 more.
The Bears wrap up the weekend tomorrow with an 11 a.m. matchup with Thiel and a 3 p.m. contest with Frostburg State.
