Rodda sets assists records; Tomcats, Bobcats top Bears on final day of Brockport Invite

BROCKPORT,  N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (3-4) fell to Thiel College (3-6) and Frostburg State (5-4) on the final day of the Brockport Golden Eagles Invitational. Senior setter Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had 58 assists on the day to eclipse Jenna Blujus '14 previous assists record of 2,808. Rodda now has 2,814 and counting.
 
Against the Tomcats, the Bears were downed 25-22, 25-20 and 25-12. Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) had a strong showing with nine kills, eight digs, a block and an assist. Sophomore middle hitter Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) also notched nine kills to go with a block. Junior libero Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) recorded a game-high 20 digs along with four aces and an assist. Senior setter Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had 25 assists and seven digs.
 
Potsdam pushed the Bobcats to four sets before bowing 3-1 on 25-17, 20-25, 25-11 and 25-21 scores. Scott completed her day with 13 more kills and 18 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) had a career-high 11 kills and Mack added eight kills and one block. Rodda posted 33 more assists and freshman Emme Price (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) had a contest best four blocks. Magallon picked up another 20 digs and four assists.
 
The Bears are now off until next Saturday. They are at Clarkson for a 1 p.m. match before returning home at 7 p.m. to host Susquehanna in Maxcy Field House.
