New Paltz upends Bears, 3-0

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.—SUNY New Paltz (9-9, 4-4 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (8-12, 2-4) 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-19) on Friday evening. Freshman outside hitter Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) led the Bears with six kills and 12 digs. Fellow freshman outside hitter Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) finished with four kills.
 
Junior captain Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley), sophomore outside hitter Emme Price (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) and junior middle hitter Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) each had three kills. Senior captain Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) totaled 20 digs and three aces, while freshman setter Kendall Jones (Parker, Colo./Elizabeth) posted 21 assists and seven digs.
 
Maddie Van Pelt paced the Hawks with 10 kills and nine digs. Makenzie Bills contributed five kills and two blocks. Demi Herasme, Julie Greenspan and Courtney Gebhardt each had four kills. Herasme and Greenspan also had four digs and two blocks, respectively. Haley Timarky finished with 16 assists and 10 digs. Nicole Fellone totaled 12 digs, four assists and three aces and Mia Waddell finished with eight digs and three aces.
 
Potsdam is back in action tomorrow afternoon when the Bears head to Oneonta for a 1 p.m. contest.
