POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (8-13, 3-5 SUNYAC) raced out to a 2-0 lead and defeated SUNY Fredonia (8-16, 1-7) 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 25-11) on Friday evening. Freshman outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) continued her impressive debut campaign with 10 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Emme Price (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) matched Ader's 10 kills and freshman setter
Kendall Jones was strong all around with seven kills, 29 assists and two aces.
Junior captain
Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) finished with six kills and 12 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) and junior captain
Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) each posted four blocks. Senior captain
Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) totaled 24 digs and three aces.
Sophomore middle back Emily Jones (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) led the Blue Devils with eight kills and two aces. Sophomore outside hitter Britt Shaughnessy (Apalachin, N.Y./Owego) and junior outside hitter Emma Booth each contributed seven kills, while Booth had a match-high four aces and Shaughnessy also had 12 digs. Freshman setter Kourtney Krchniak (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) finished with 22 assists and 14 digs. Freshman libero Sierra Keim (Shinglehouse, Pa./Portville) led Fredonia with 17 digs.
Potsdam's victory is the first over Fredonia since 1999.
The Bears wrap up conference play tomorrow afternoon when they host Buffalo State at 1 p.m.
