POTSDAM. N.Y. --- The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (5-7, 1-3 SUNYAC) fell to the SUNY Geneseo Knights (9-2-1, 3-0-1) 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Maxcy Turf Field. Sophomore forward Hannah Sullivan (Marlboro, N.Y./Marlboro) and junior midfielder Ellie Gregory (Commack, N.Y./Commack) had two goals apiece for the conference leading Knights.
Â
The Knights struck quickly as Gregory picked up a pass at the left side of the net sent a rocket in at 3:34 to make it 1-0. Skilled ball movement enabled the Knights to build a comfortable lead in the first half. At 15:37, Geneseo made it 2-0 with Sullivan's first goal coming from the penalty area after receiving the pass from sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Griffin (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial). Sullivan nearly added to the lead late in the half after winning a foot race with a Bears defender and sending a quick shot, but sophomore goalkeeper
Gabby Hobika (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) was able to smother the ball. The score was unchanged at the break.
Â
Griffin made it 3-0 from midfield off a pass from Sullivan, with her shot going over Hobika and in just 44 seconds into the second half. The Knights continued to press and it paid off. At 58:74, Sullivan deposited her second goal with a chip that was just out of Hobika's reach. Just over a minute later, the forward assisted on Gregory's second goal of the contest to close the scoring at 5-0.

Hobika stopped nine shots for the Bears, while Knights junior Julia McDonald (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) made one save for the win in the first 63:15.
