Cayla O'Connor (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) scored three. Sophomore midfielder
Zoe Morgenroth (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored twice. Senior captain
Katie Longamore (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) made six saves for her eighth career win.
Potsdam had its way with the Soaring Eagles from the outset, opening the contest on a 5-0 run. Morgenroth and Stark recorded the first two goals at 26:07 an d 23:59. O'Connor netted the next two at 21:48 and 18:37 with an assist on the first from sophomore midfielder
Keira Thacker (Oakeville, Ontario/T.A. Blakelock). Stark then closed the stretch with a goal at 12:46 on a feed from junior attack
Ashley Burrowes (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood). Mikayla Carfello briefly slowed the moment with Elmira's lone goal at 11:26, but the Bears rattled off the next three. Stark buried her third at 8:21 with another helper from Burrowes. Junior midfielder
Alexa Ferrer (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) struck at 7:38 and Morgenroth notched her second at 5:03 for the 8-1 advantage heading into the break. Potsdam outshot the Eagles 20-8 in the first 30 minutes.
The Bears never let up in the second half. O'Connor scored her third of the game at 27:20 and senior captain
Meaghan Paige (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) found the back of the net after a pass from Stark at 25:55. Freshman attack
Macy Reid (Buffalo, N.Y./Orchard Park) registered her first collegiate goal at 20:44 and Stark got her fourth at 18:27. Kate Gibson netted Elmira's second goal of the game at 13:55, but Thacker countered at 8:09 on a pass from Reid to make it 13-2. Mae Dinh got the final tally of the contest at 2:18, but Potsdam closed out the 10-goal win.
Kacie Pierce finished with 13 saves for Elmira. The Bears outshot the Soaring Eagles 35-13. O'Connor finished with a game-high five draw controls and totaled three ground balls. Longamore caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls.
The Bears are back in action for their home opener on Thursday, when they host Clarkson University at 4 p.m.
