WENHAM, MASS.—The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1-0) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (0-1) 3-0 in the first round of the Gordon College Invitational on Friday night.
The Engineers got off to a fast start in set one to down the Bears 25-10. MIT then fought off Potsdam by scores of 25-18 and 25-20 to claim the victory.

Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) and junior outside hitter
Nicole Ramirez led the Bears' offense with six, five and five kills, respectively. Sophomore setter
Alyssa Rogers (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) posted 16 assists, while senior captain
Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) and freshman outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) contributed 10 and seven digs.
Alexis Groak paced the Engineers with 11 kills and Andie Maloney added 16 assists and two aces. Madison Lee and Maggie Wang registered nine and seven digs. Emily Condon totaled four kills and three blocks.
The Bears take on the host Fighting Scots at 11 a.m. tomorrow and close out the weekend against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 1 p.m.
