POTSDAM, N.Y.—A first half goal was the difference as Clarkson University (3-0) edged the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (1-2) 1-0 on Wednesday night at Hantz Field. Junior goalkeeper Gabby Hobika (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) finished with five saves.
 
The Golden Knights outshot the Bears 8-3 and generated a 2-1 edge in corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes. Clarkson's Sarah Kohls got the Golden Knights on the board at 35:37 with a helper from Allison Coon.
 
The Golden Knights continued to press in the second half. They outshot the Bears 6-3, though Hobika and Elyse Green each made two saves. Clarkson totaled six more corners and Potsdam wasn't able to crack the Golden Knight defense.
 
Green used her two stops to earn the shutout. Clarkson's win ends a three-game unbeaten streak by the Bears (2-0-1) and was the Golden Knights' first victory over Potsdam since 2015.
 
Next, the Bears head to the New England College Tournament. They face Roger Williams University at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and the host Pilgrims at noon on Saturday.
