Bears men’s volleyball bows to Roadrunners, Saints

RAMAPO, N.J.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball (1-2) team battled Ramapo College (1-5) and Emmanuel College (2-3) before falling by identical 3-0 scores at the Ramapo Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon.
 
Against the host Roadrunners, the Bears fell 25-14, 25-19 and 25-23. Freshman outside hitter Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) led Potsdam with five kills, an ace, six assists and nine digs. Junior middle hitter Brendan Wall (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) recorded four kills and senior outside hitter Saluhu Malam (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) totaled three kills and two blocks. Sophomore setter Alec Roy (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) had nine assists and junior libero Keven Sanchez (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) had nine digs. Freshman libero Kiernan Morgan (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) posted four digs and junior outside hitter Ernest Sosa (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy) finished with two blocks and an assist.
 
The Bears fell in straight sets to the Saints in the finale by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-17. Rogers registered a career-high 10 kills along with three aces, three assists and six digs. Sosa had five kills and Roy had four and a personal best 17 assists. Morgan and Wall each contributed five digs.
 
Potsdam returns to the court next Friday at 6 p.m. when the Bears travel to Wilkes University.
