AURORA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (2-6) bowed to Daemen College (6-6) and Penn State Altoona (5-5) by identical 3-0 scores at the Wells College Classic on Friday evening.
In the opener against the Division I Wildcats, the Bears fell 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12. Freshman outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) led Potsdam with eight kills, six digs and an ace. Sophomore setter
Alec Roy (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) registered four kills 13 assists, five digs and an ace. Junior outside hitter
Ernest Sosa (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy) added three kills and junior middle hitter
Brendan Wall (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) had five digs.
The Lions took all three sets in the finale by 25-12, 25-9 and 25-23 scores. Senior outside hitter
Saluhu Malam (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) paced Potsdam with four kills. Roy had three kills, three aces and six assists. Wall posted two kills and six digs. Rogers totaled two aces, a block and six digs. Sosa had three blocks and junior libero
Keven Sanchez (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) led the Bears with a game-high eight digs.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow when they face host and sixth-ranked Wells at 11 a.m. in a NEAC match. They then square off with league foe Keuka College at 1 p.m.
