AURORA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (2-8, 1-3 NEAC) was defeated by No. 6 Wells College (16-3, 4-0) and Keuka College (5-6, 3-1) by 3-0 scores in two NEAC matches on the final day of the Wells College Classic.
Against the host Express, the Bears fell 25-6, 25-23 and 25-20. Junior middle hitter
Brendan Wall (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) led Potsdam's offense with five kills. Sophomore setter
Alec Roy (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) had four kills, an ace, seven assists and six digs. Freshman outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) had three kills, two aces, two blocks, four assists and five digs. Junior libero
Keven Sanchez (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) totaled three assists and five digs.
Potsdam pushed the Wolves to the brink in the finale before falling 25-20, 26-24 and 25-18. Rogers had a match-high 11 kills along with two aces and four digs. Junior and senior outside hitters
Ernest Sosa (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy) and Salahu Malam (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) each contributed three kills and a block. Roy registered 15 assists, two aces and two blocks. Sanchez posted a contest-best seven digs, while Rogers had two blocks and four digs. Wall added five digs.
Potsdam heads to Massachusetts next weekend for three matches. The Bears open at Dean College on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
