POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY New Paltz (3-4-1, 1-2 SUNYAC) scored in each half to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (4-5, 0-3 SUNYAC) 2-0 in the Bears first home match since September 7. Freshman goalkeeper
Savannah Bowie (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) made a career-high nine saves for Potsdam.
The Hawks got on the board in the 14th minute as freshman forward Parris Burke (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) fed junior forward Ally Donovan (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) in stride at the left side of the net. She then fired it past Bowie for the eventual game-winner. The score was unchanged at the break.
New Paltz continued to press in the second half, testing Bowie early. In the 80th minute, the Hawks added insurance. At 79:29, freshman Rachel Eisert (Wellington C. Mepham) scored an unassisted marker to close the scoring for the contest.
New Paltz sophomore goalie Kyra Russo (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) made four saves to earn the shutout.
