Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bears blank Red Dragons to pick up SUNYAC win, 1-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Junior midfielder Margaret Crosson (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) scored in the 36th minute to give the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (5-5, 1-3 SUNYAC) a 1-0 win over SUNY Oneonta (0-8-1, 0-3-1).  Bears sophomore goalkeeper Chloe Gordon (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) made six saves for her second career victory and shutout.

Potsdam took nine shots in the first half. Five made their way through to Red Dragon senior goalie Claire Lepper (Poland, N.Y./Poland) and the sixth beat her. Crosson struck at 35:13 with an assist from her sister, junior forward Makenna Crosson (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora). Gordon stopped four shots in the opening 45 minutes.

The Bears outshot Oneonta 4-3 in the second half, but Klepper kept them from extending their advantage. The scoring chances were fewer in the final period, but each team managed to generate three corner kicks.

Klepper finished with five saves on the afternoon. Potsdam had 13 shots to the Red Dragon's 10. Oneonta edged the Bears in corners 6-5.

Next, the Bears head to Fredonia on Friday for a 4 p.m. contest.
