Chloe Gordon (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) made a career-high eight saves for the Bears.
The first half was tightly contested, with the Blue Devils outshooting the Bears 7-4. Fredonia was on target with its shots in the first half, getting six through to Gordon. The sophomore made five saves in the opening period, but the Blue Devils broke through at 22:13. Sophie Richiusa buried a feed from Nicki Barlow for the 1-0 lead. The score was the same at the break.
Richiusa struck again at 56:39, with another assist from Barlow for a 2-0 advantage. Gordon made two more stops in the second half. Potsdam's best chance came at 60:19 as freshman midfielder
Leah Karabaich (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) fired a shot, but Fredonia keeper Sabrina Suriani made the save.
Suriani finished with three saves for the shutout.
The Bears head to Buffalo State tomorrow for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Bengals.
