Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Three Bears score in 3-2 win at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Three different players scored as the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (6-6, 2-4 SUNYAC) defeated Buffalo State (2-11, 0-5) 3-2 in a road game on Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Margaret Crosson (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), freshman forward Sarah Emmi (Huntington, N.Y./John Glenn) and senior forward Mackenzie Bowie (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) each scored for the Bears.

Crosson got Potsdam on the board first at 9:04 after sliding in to finish a cross from sister Makenna Crosson (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora). The Bengals countered at 12:09 as Erin Valente made the most of a penalty kick after a foul. At 35:36, Emmi gave the Bears the lead back with a helper from junior defender Emily Metz (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown). Just 1:22 later, Maya Campbell evened the contest again after weaving through the Bears defense. The contest was knotted at 2-2 at the break.

The Bears shutdown Buffalo State in the second half, allowing just three shots while taking eight of their own. Bengal keeper Isabella Vene held her team in the contest with five saves. However, Potsdam broke through in the 85th minute. The Bears were awarded a free kick 25 yards out and sophomore midfielder Meaghan Sardi (North Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) launched it to the front of the net. Bowie was there to tap it home for her fifth goal of the season.

Potsdam freshman goalkeeper Savannah Bowie (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) needed just one save to claim her fourth career win. Vene made nine stops in a losing cause.

The Bears finished with 17-8 and 7-2 advantages in shots and corner kicks, respectively.

Potsdam is back home next weekend as they host Geneseo on Friday at 4 p.m. and Brockport at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
