POTSDAM, N.Y.—St. Lawrence University (15-9) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (5-13) 3-1 at Maxcy Hall on Tuesday night. The teams split the opening two sets, with the Saints taking set one 25-21 and the Bears winning the second set 25-23. However, SLU closed out the match with 25-20 and 27-25 victories in sets three and four.
Junior outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) led Potsdam's offense with 13 kills, two blocks, two aces and 19 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Megan Henry (Condor, N.Y/Condor) had 12 kills and junior middle hitter
Emme Price (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) finished with eight kills, six blocks and two assists. Junior setter
Alyssa Rogers (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) had 28 assists and six digs on the night, while senior defensive specialist
Nikki Ramirez (West Covina, Calif./Bishop Amat) totaled an impressive 28 digs.
For the Saints, Natalie Piper led the offense with 23 kills, three aces, one block, two assists, and 11 digs. Annika Kreppein had 20 kills, two blocks and 14 digs. Setter Allie Posnick had 48 assists and three aces while defensive specialist Reagan Collier-Hogan had 29 digs.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow, Wednesday October 27, at 7 p.m. when they host the SUNY Canton Kangaroos at Maxcy Field House. Potsdam will honor its seniors prior to the match.
