BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport (4-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) scored all three goals in the second period to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (0-3, 0-3) 3-0 on Saturday night. In his season debut, senior goalie
Michael Paglucca (North Reading, Mass./New Hampshire Avalanche) made a game-high 29 saves.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Bears 11-7 in the first period. Potsdam went on the power play twice in the first 10 minutes, but couldn't get on the board.
More penalties got the Bears in trouble in the second period. A tripping call 34 seconds in resulted in a Mitchell Parsons power-play marker at 2:21. At 10:18, Jacob King scored on the man advantage after a boarding call to make it 2-0. At 13:39, Connor Galloway added another goal, this time even strength, to extend the lead.
Potsdam generated more pressure in the third, which was helped by two power plays. The Bears tested Golden Eagles goalie Nolan Egbert 15 times in the last 20 minutes, but couldn't solve him. Paglucca stopped all nine shots he faced.
Egbert finished with 25 saves for the shutout. Brockport finished with a 32-25 shot advantage and was 2-for-5 on the power play. Potsdam went 0-for-4.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow night at 7 p.m. when they travel to SUNY Geneseo to face the No. 1 ranked Knights.
