ONEONTA, N.Y.—Oneonta State (1-0, 1-0 SUNYAC) used a big first half run to take control of today's SUNYAC opener and defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (0-2, 0-1) 22-1.

Novaleigh LeGrow (Massena, N.Y./Massena) evened the score with her first career marker. However, it was all Red Dragons for the rest of the half. Sophia Calebrese, Rachel Morris, Christen Patalano and Megan Foiles each had two goals for Oneonta and Lily Avazis and Maggee Sheridan contributed three assists apiece to build a 15-1 halftime advantage.
The Red Dragons got two more goals from Foiles and Tessa Hughes as Oneonta added seven more in the second half to close out the victory.
Sophomore attack
Hannah Stevenson (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) had three draw controls and LeGrow and junior midfielder
Calena Rodriguez (Albany, N.Y./Albany) each had two.
Bears sophomore goalie
Netta Terrance (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) made a career-high 13 saves. Oneonta's Jennifer Tumino made four stops for the win.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, when they host Route 11 rival SUNY Canton at 4 p.m.
