PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam Volleyball team (2-3, 0-1 SUNYAC) fell to Plattsburgh State (5-3, 1-0) in four sets (11-25, 17-25, 25-20, 18-25) on Wednesday night.
Potsdam fell short to the Cardinals during their SUNYAC opener. Junior outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) led the Bears with a game-high nine kills. Ader was also credited for 17 digs and 1 block. Freshman setter
Colleen Murphy (Clifton Park, N.Y/Shenendehowa) contributed a career-high 25 assists and an ace. Fellow Junior
Alyssa Rogers (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) had 11 assists and 10 digs. Senior defensive specialist
Nikki Ramirez (West Covina, Calif./Bishop Amat) had 19 digs and two assists for the Bears.
Meghan O'Brien and Payton Zophy led the Cardinal offense with 11 kills each. The duo also had three aces apiece. Jen Braun contributed four blocks while Olga Muka and Emma Rivers had 21 and 16 assists, respectively. Zophy added 15 digs and Shannon Fitzpatrick added 14 more.
The Bears will be back in action this Friday when they face Elmira at 6:00 p.m. and St. John Fisher at 1:00pm Saturday at the Oswego State Invitational.
