OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (3-3) defeated Elmira College (2-3) 3-1 on the first day of competition at the Oswego State Invitational.
The Soaring Eagles took the first set of the match 25-19, but the Bears rebounded to win the next three by 25-22, 25-14 and 25-17. Junior outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) led the Bears' offense with a match-high 13 kills, while also contributing one assist and seven digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) notched eight kills. Junior outside hitter
Abygail Olejnik (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield) contributed a game-high 14 digs. Fellow junior
Alyssa Rogers (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) totaled 17 assists, 13 digs and two kills.
Potsdam wraps up play at the tournament tomorrow with a pair of matches. The Bears face St. John Fisher at 1 p.m. and Utica College at 3 p.m.
