PULASKI, N.Y.—No. 6 Hobart College (12-3) scored three goals in the third period to pull away from the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (1-13) for a 4-1 victory at the Haldane Memorial Arena in Pulaski on Monday night. Senior captain
Ethan Clark (Seven Valleys, Pa./New Hampshire Avalanche) scored for the Bears and junior goalie
Connor Green (Newport Richey, Fla./Tampa Bay Juniors) made a career-high 42 saves.
The Statesmen controlled the play in the first period, sustaining pressure on Potsdam's defense. Green was sharp and stopped all 17 shots that came his way during the opening 20 minutes. The teams traded an unsuccessful power play apiece.
Green stopped the next five shots he faced in the second period before Hobart finally solved him. Dan Sliney struck with an even-strength tally at 14:35 to get the Statesmen on the board. Green turned aside the last six shots he faced in the period for 28 through 40 minutes.
Hobart struck again 3:39 into the third period as Matthew Iasenza scored. Just 1:09 later, Clark got Potsdam on the board with an assist from freshman forward
Jack Loran (Massena, N.Y./New England Wolves). The helper was Loran's first collegiate point. At 13:11, Aaron Maguyon gave the Statesmen some insurance. With just 24 seconds left, Zach Tyson found the back of the net to close the scoring at 4-1.
Hobart goalie Liam Lascelle made 22 saves for the win. The Statesmen were 0-for-3 on the power play and the Bears went 0-for-2.
